This might seem like I am stating the obvious but it is surprising how many times I stumble across websites with an extremely bad choice of font/typeface for text and this makes the website content extremely difficult to read.
Think Of Your Audience
When putting together your website you need to be thinking of the needs of your audience, not your needs. Just because things seem clear to you, it does not mean it will be clear to your readers.
Even Designers Make This Mistake
Sometimes it is easy for those with a “graphic flair” to use fonts which are creative and look very stylish but serve no purpose in the delivery of the content. When I built the Dive Marketing Tips blog I specifically picked a nice, clear, easy to read font/typeface and then made it BIGGER! This website is not a visual website. I am not posting lots of pictures, it is the information you read which is important so I wanted to make it as easy to read as possible.
Take A Look At Your Website Now
Have a quick look at your website and see whether your font is nice and clear. Is it too small? Does the color of your font stand out enough on the background of your website? It is certainly worth checking because I know personally that if a site is difficult to read then I will very quickly go somewhere else and your potential customers could be doing the same!
